Most people think that jobs on cruise lines are only for those who can entertain, provide pleasurable services and give good customer service to the passengers. They think that people only need a charismatic, charming and entertaining character to qualify for a good paying job on board. But as a cruise ship is like a small city, it needs a lot of other workers that doesn’t necessarily have to face the passengers. These jobs are for those who makes the travel safe and makes sure that the ship will reach its destination fine and safely. Here are more cruise ship job that you might want to consider if you don’t want to be serving passengers on board.

Oiler and Plumber - these jobs are concerned with maintaining, checking and repairing plumbing systems on board and to survey oil temperature and miscellaneous repairs.

Motorman – cleans, repairs and maintains all engines on board.

Chief Electrician – Responsible for all electrical systems on ships and usually have a few electricians as members on his team.

Chief Radio Officer – this position requires proper maintenance and even repairs of all the equipments and facilities that is needed for his task which is mainly the ship’s radio that is used for weather and traffic communications.

First Assistant Engineer – answers to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for most of the engine room duties including supervising the people or the workers on the room.

Assistant Chief Engineer – has the task of assisting and even carries out most of the Chief Engineer’s tasks. He is also responsible for the productivity room and the first assistant engineer can also report to him.

Chief Engineer – the man responsible for maintaining technical operations on board including generators, electrical systems, engine, air conditioning, air circulation and refrigeration. All the above position answers to him.

These are only a few of those jobs that you can get if you don’t like a hospitality job on board. Surely, you will get good pay and benefits as well.
